Head of the United Front Department of the CPC Guiyang Municipal Committee Xu Hong, Deputy Head of the United Front Department and Director of the Guiyang Municipal Commission of Ethnic and Religious Affairs He Fabing, and heads from the Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone and Nanming District attended the opening ceremony.

This event was co-hosted by the Social Development Bureau of the Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, the Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Nanming District, and the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Nanming District, and co-organized by the Buyi Society of Nanming District and the Colorful Town of Guizhou Performers Company.

Following the opening ceremony in the morning, teams competed for prizes in the afternoon. A banquet and campfire were on offer for the over 1,000 people who attended the event.

All competing teams were required to sing traditional songs in local Buyi dialect with themes of etiquette, ceremonies, and love, or new versions created in modern times with upbeat themes. The performances were rated by a panel of seven, including a Buyi linguist, a cultural expert, a provincial non-tangible cultural heritage successor, and a cultural successor of the Buyi ethnic group.

The event promoted ethnic culture, enhanced communications and relations among peoples, developed talents for ethnic arts, and provided a cultural feast for everyone to enjoy. It was also part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
