Sustainable mountain tourism summit to be held in Guiyang

More than 400 guests from 29 countries and regions will get together to share their views on the sustainable development of mountain tourism at the 2019 Annual Conference of International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA), which will be held in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, from Oct 27 to 29.

With a theme related to jointly building common consensus on mountain tourism, participants will explore new methods for sustainable mountain tourism at the annual meeting, spanning a variety of subjects including ecology, green development, environmental production, poverty alleviation, and innovation.

A series of activities will also coincide with the annual meeting, including a plaque unveiling ceremony for the IMTA, several theme forums, the Belt and Road mountain tourism exchange meeting, and a hiking experience activity in Shuanglong Ecological Park & Ecological Sports Park.

Comprised of worldwide tourism institutes, groups, enterprises, and individuals, IMTA is China's first international annual meeting themed on mountain tourism. It was evoked by international and non-profit voluntary associations, and now boasts 142 members from 29 countries and regions.

Southwest China's Guizhou province is the initiator and headquarters of the alliance. Relying on its unique mountain tourism resources, the province is dedicated to the development of being known for its elite mountain tourism, upgrading its tourism development strategic layout.
