Construction on the expansion project of the third phase of Guizhou Longdongbao International Airport will be completed at the end of June this year as scheduled, according to the project manager.
The expansion project is designed to increase passenger throughput to 30 million people, cargo and mail throughput to 250,000 metric tons, and aircraft takeoffs and landings to 243,000 in 2025.

Development of the supporting area project is also in full swing and mainly covers housing construction, municipal facilities, general planning and information engineering.
On Nov 5, 2020, the east runway was put in use, and the extension and reconstruction of the west runway began.
The distance between the new runway and the old runway is 365 meters. Contractors will newly build a parallel taxiway with a length of 4,000 meters and a width of 23 meters between the two runways and 28 communication passages, and a new parking apron with 62 positions.
