The launch ceremony for the Guizhou Xiaobei Travel Sharing Electric Bicycle project was held in the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 15.
The project has received a total of 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) in investment and will be built in three phases. It will feature an industrial park and centers for operation, settlement, and customer services.
It is expected to achieve an annual output of 2 million electric bicycles worth 10 billion yuan and provide 5,000 jobs.
It will also meet people's short-distance transportation and low-carbon travel needs and help achieve the industrialization of the sharing economy in Guizhou province.
"After many inspections and comparisons, we acknowledge the strong business environment and efficient services of the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, and have decided to establish the southwest headquarters of Xiaobei Travel in Guizhou," said Yuan Hongling, general manager of Guizhou Xiaobei Travel Co.
According to the strategic plan, 1.5 million shared electric bicycles will be introduced throughout Guizhou within one year, and 8 million will be introduced in surrounding areas such as Guangxi, Sichuan and Chongqing.
