The Guiyang No 9 Middle School has moved from the Nanming district to the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone – located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – with the move-in kicking off on Oct 16 and lasting two days.
Students in the 12th grade were the first to enter the new school and eagerly occupied the new residential dormitories, each of which accommodates six students and is equipped with a separate bathroom and a large balcony.
Covering an area of more than 200 mu (13.33 hectares), the new campus has teaching buildings, laboratories, administrative buildings, libraries, canteens, student apartments and sports fields.
It is also equipped with intelligent systems such as a campus computer network, video surveillance and multimedia teaching facilities.
According to the directors, the relocation of the school aims to improve teaching conditions and upgrade the school's administration. It is believed that the new complete and comprehensive teaching facilities will make it an ideal place for students to study and live there.
Founded in 1957, Guiyang No 9 Middle School became a provincial key middle school in 1980, subsequently being designated a modern educational technology experimental school in Guizhou province in 2000. It was also rated as a provincial demonstration high school this year.
The school has educated tens of thousands of talented young people who went on to university and who flourished in and contributed to society.
