Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone has overseen and promoted garbage classification in local communities and educated residents about the importance of garbage classification.
The zone is located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
In 2018, the area only had demonstration sites for domestic garbage classification in three communities. This year, all 25 communities in the zone have domestic garbage classification facilities, providing 100 percent coverage for the area.
Also, smart facilities that can automatically identify what type of garbage is being disposed of were installed in six communities in 2019.
At present, there are 2,100 classified garbage bins in residential communities and public areas.
A medium-size transfer station served by seven garbage trucks has been built with a daily transfer capacity of 400 metric tons per day, helping to keep the area clean.
Moving forward, the zone will increase publicity and strengthen voluntary services to encourage more residents to sort their garbage.
