Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is gearing up for a much-needed expansion of its parking infrastructure.
Plans are for the zone to install an additional 1,700 public parking spaces within three years, to alleviate the current parking problems for the public.
Recently, an additional floor below ground at the parking garage of the Central Ecological Park in the zone was opened, in an expansion costing about 40 million yuan ($6.26 million).
Last year, the total number of automobiles in the Shuanglong economic zone reached 50,000, while about 30,000 parking bays were provided, with a parking space supply ratio of 0.63 per automobile.
Targeting the difficult parking areas – such as hospitals, schools and old residential communities – the zone plans to expand the supply of parking lots within three years and improve their overall quality. To do so, it will reportedly implement a detailed parking supply strategy.
Meanwhile, in order to meet the demand for charging new energy vehicles, the zone is also actively promoting the construction of public charging piles.
This year 60 new charging piles will be completed, taking the number in the zone to 485.
