Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone located in Southwest China's Guizhou province is stepping up efforts to help schools open their sports facilities for public use.

People who live near schools will have more places to get exercise after work and during school holidays.

"Twelve primary and secondary schools in the economic zone have gradually opened to the public," said Tan Yang, head of the social affairs bureau of the economic zone.

Fifteen-minute community-living circles are currently being promoted in the zone, with the aim of providing basic services and public activity space for residents within walking distance.

Great importance is also attached to the promotion of sporting events.

The Shuanglong Ecological Sports Park, the first park of its kind in the province, has become an ideal venue for various physical activities, exercise and sports.

The park opened in April 2018, covering an area of more than 60,000 square meters and consisting of different zones for swimming, fitness, basketball, tennis, and football. It also includes cycling lanes and running tracks.

It supports telephone and online reservations and provides free face masks to users. In addition, all facilities are disinfected and sterilized three times a day.

The average daily number of visits to the park has reached 1,000, according to a person in charge.

One official said that the economic zone will strive to allocate more funds to increase the amount of sporting and fitness equipment across the zone.
