The Longdongbao Sewage Treatment Plant – located in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, incorporates the sponge city concept in its design, while also providing opportunities for sightseeing and the promotion of science.
The facility mainly serves the northern area of Shuanglong economic zone, and is responsible for collecting and processing domestic and industrial sewage in the Yuliang River Basin and Limushan River Basin.
Processing 100,000 metric tons of sewage a day, the plant uses the latest technology from reclaimed water treatment systems. The treated sewage water is cleaner than standard surface water, and is mainly used for supplying rivers and public buildings, firefighting, and greening.
In recent years, Shuanglong has invested a total of 4.26 billion yuan ($667.36 million) in a series of comprehensive water environment management projects, including the construction of sewage treatment plants and pipe networks, river dredging, and the landscaping of river banks.
At present, the regional value brought by the excellent environment of Shuanglong economic zone is increasing year by year, and its regional competitiveness and attractiveness have also continued to improve.
