As of Sept 24, six supermarkets stocking daily necessities in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, had reopened to meet the needs of residents.
Officials said careful arrangements had been made to ensure things went smoothly.
"For each supermarket that resumes business, we have arranged for three staff members to be on duty," said Wu Taoling, a member of staff at the zone's bureau of investment promotions.
"They are mainly responsible for supervising the inspection of supermarket admission certificates and the maintenance of internal order, so as to ensure the orderly and safe flow of customers," Wu added.
To date, the six supermarkets have sold about 52.55 metric tons of vegetables, about 11 tons of rice, 80,622 eggs, 4,108 liters of edible oil and about 7.8 tons of meat.
