The Longdongbao reclaimed water plant is located in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The sunken water plant cost 570 million yuan ($81.93 million) to make and it was officially put into commercial operation in early 2018.

The water plant structure is divided into three floors, with the top floor serving as the ecological landscape park, the middle floor serving as the operation floor, and the bottom floor serving as the sewage treatment pool and equipment floor.
After the sewage undergoes physical, biochemical treatment and chemical treatment, it becomes clear and is discharged into the river after being tested by online equipment in real time.

The water plant operates 24 hours a day and treats about 25,000 metric tons of production and domestic sewage from the food industrial park and surrounding residential areas, which have a population of about 80,000 people, per day.
Also, a heat recovery system for sewage sources has been set up at the water plant to extract energy from sewage and provide energy for ground buildings, which fully embodies the green and low-carbon concept.
