The cultural tourism industry in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has witnessed a robust rebound this summer.
The Guizhou Polar Ocean World is a popular destination, attracting visitors from all around the province with white whale, dolphin, and mermaid shows.
It introduced nearly 8,000 marine organisms of various types this summer, bringing the total number close to 25,000. It also added science popularization areas and machines, offering convenience to visitors who want to look up information.
As a research and travel base for primary and middle school students and a demonstration base for the popularization of exotic organisms, the ocean world also organizes a series of lectures and experiments to popularize science among children.
During summer vacation, the ocean world receives more than 2,000 tourists every day, and nearly double that on weekends, according to a manager.
In addition to the ocean world, other tourist destinations are also seeing increasing number of visitors, who come to taste food, appreciate intangible cultural heritage items, and experience folk customs.
Shuanglong Ecological Sports Park receives more than 400 swimmers every day, and over 600 on weekends.
The Sasseur (Guiyang) Outlets is also a hit among summer visitors, as it holds various activities such as parent-child runs, badminton competitions, and cartoon and animation shows.
The shopping mall welcomes 20,000 visits every day, double that on weekends, according to its marketing director Li Tao.
Camping is also popular among summer tourists. Data showed that Shuanglong Ecological Park received 22,000 campers in June and July, and Songjiayuan Ecological Leisure Camping Base has received over 8,500 since the beginning of July.
The increasing number of tourists also brought surge in hotel accommodations, with some hotels in the zone fully booked during the holiday.
